‘Talwandi' is a city in the province of Punjab,
Pakistan. Nankana is located about 80 Kilometers
South West of Lahore and about 75 Kilometres East from
Faisalabad. The city has a population of almost 80,000.
It is also the capital of Nankana Sahib District.
Interestingly the city is smack in the center of
Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, and
Lahore
Nankana Sahib is one of the most
important cities in the world as it is the birthplace of
Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. The city is a
popular pilgrimage site for Sikh's from all over the
world. What Mecca and Medina (in Saudi Arabia) is to
Muslims, and the Vatican (in Italy) is to Christians,
Nankana Sahib is of equal importance to the Sikh's of
the world.
